Society of Bangladeshi Doctors Queensland (SBDQ) is a professional organization for all doctors and medical students of Bangladeshi origin residing in Queensland, Australia. The organization was founded by Dr. Shafiqul Chowdhury in 2003. The organization was formed to give relevant moral and professional support to Bangladeshi medical doctor, who migrated from Bangladesh, to get into the Australian Medical System. Since its inception, Society of Bangladeshi Doctors Queensland has been helping newly arrived doctors in Queensland with information, work opportunity, peer experience, exchange of ideas, as well as to overcome social isolation, transition cultural shock, family support etc.
Mission of Society of Bangladeshi Doctors Queensland (SBDQ):
1. Work as a professional organization for all doctors and medical students of Bangladeshi origin residing in Queensland
2. Work to encourage the highest possible professional standard of its members
3. Be dedicated to providing outstanding health services to Queenslanders 4. Organize regular medical education, peer support and mentoring for its members
5. Organize networking and socio-cultural activities for its members and their families
6. Support local Bangladeshi community members health education
Fourteen members of SBDQ run the organization. It has a president, a vice president, a treasurer, a general secretary, a scientific secretary, an organizing secretary, a cultural secretary, and seven executive committee members.
