Business Description
Founded in 2023, the Hindu Welfare Organization of New Jersey is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the social, cultural, and religious needs of the Bangladeshi Hindu community in New Jersey. Initially established in 2010 as the Bangladesh Hindu Religious Welfare Organization of New Jersey, the organization was dissolved and reorganized to expand its reach and serve a broader community.
Aims & Objectives
- Foster a Network of Dedicated Volunteers for Community Development: To mobilize, train, and empower a diverse group of committed volunteers from the Bangladeshi Hindu diaspora to support the organization’s activities.
- Establish a Unified and Inclusive Platform for the Bangladeshi Hindu Community: To create a united, non-political, and inclusive platform that unites the Bangladeshi Hindu community of New Jersey.
- Organize Social, Cultural, and Religious Events to Preserve Heritage: To preserve, promote, and celebrate the rich cultural and religious heritage of the Bangladeshi Hindu community through meaningful and engaging events, such as celebrating Hindu pujas (Durga Puja, Diwali, Holi, Saraswati Puja, Janmashtami) with traditional rituals, music, and dance.
- Participate in and Celebrate Bangladesh’s National and Cultural Events: To honor and uphold the national identity, history, and democratic values of Bangladesh while fostering pride among the diaspora. Celebrate national days like International Mother Language Day (Ekushey), Independence Day (Shadhinota), Victory Day (Bijoy), etc.
- Construct a Hindu Temple and Community Center: To build a permanent temple plus a multi-purpose community center that serves as a spiritual, cultural, and social hub for the Bangladeshi Hindu community. Lunch campaign to raise funds for land acquisition, temple construction, and facility development.
- Advocate for the Rights and Representation of the Hindu Minority in Bangladesh: To raise awareness about the challenges Hindu communities face in Bangladesh and advocate for religious freedom and minority rights. Support documentation and preservation of Bangladesh’s endangered Hindu cultural, religious, and spiritual sites and practices.
