Agami Incorporated, a US-registered non-profit IRS 501(c)(3) organization of the California-based Bangladeshi community, is dedicated to promoting education for the underprivileged in Bangladesh. Its programs focus on meeting the basic needs for a welcoming and enriching school environment and localizing global innovations in education technology to empower disadvantaged students. Agami works directly with schools across Bangladesh, learning from the teachers, students, parents, and school administrators, and continues to develop our programs to provide access to quality education.
Activities and Programs of Agami Incorporated:
Agami has programs and activities in more than 15 districts in Bangladesh. The programs are continuously monitored, evaluated, and implemented to achieve the best results for underprivileged children.
School Program: In 2016, Agami’s School Program enabled the successful operation of 18 primary and high schools across Bangladesh. Working closely with individual schools, Agami identifies each institution’s most significant areas of need and acts accordingly.
Khan Academy Bangla: With the launch of the Khan Academy Bangla Site in 2016, Agami can bring Khan Academy’s much-acclaimed educational resources to the students and teachers of Bangladesh. Since 2011, with the collaboration of Khan Academy, Agami has translated over 800 Khan Academy math videos. In the 2012-2014 school years, Agami made these videos available to over 2,000 underprivileged students in over 20 schools across Bangladesh. In 2016, the work continued with translations to cover new topics and a 20-school pilot study to evaluate the website.
Continued Education Program: Agami’s Continued Education Program provides ex-Agami students with financial, academic, and mentoring support to pursue higher education after graduating from Agami schools.
Solar Program: The Solar Program enables students to study longer hours while utilizing environmentally friendly, renewable energy provided by solar lamps.
Science Initiative: In the newest initiative, Agami is developing a package of science lessons for grades 3, 4, and 5. The goal is to motivate children to learn science and link their classroom learning with day-to-day life.
