Bangladesh Welfare Association Croydon (BWAC) is a voluntary charity organisation by a group of Bangladeshi and other Ethnic Black Minority people living and working in Croydon. Approximately, 2500 Bengali people are residing and working in the London Borough of Croydon. BWAC was set up in early 1984 for the fast growing Bengali community whom have been suffering from multiple deprivations. It is most likely due to the impact of Ignorance existing in the community. High levels of language barriers, poor education, poor housing & health, overcrowding, racial harassment, unemployment, poverty, cultural & social imbalance conditions resulted Bengali community disadvantaged and under achieved. All these have compounded their problems and consequently they are excluded in participating from the community & have inadequate access to council’s main services stream.

BWAC provides the services across the geographical area local of London borough of Croydon and its surroundings. It will serve the needs of mostly the Bangladeshi and other Ethnic Black Minority and other Ethnic Black Minority communities without involving any political activities for the development of the community.
