Bangladeshi Students’ Association at University of Toronto Mississauga (BSA-UTSG) works to promote the Bangladeshi culture both on and off campus, and to raise money to send to the global South in hopes of increasing social development. The association claims to have more than thousand members of Bangladeshi origin. The prime aim of the association is to promote, protect and preserve Bangladeshi culture at the university and in the wider Toronto area. Bangladeshi Students’ Association at University of Toronto organizes Bangladesh cultural events at the university – theater, dance, music, art exhibition etc.

Activities:

  • organize Bangladeshi national and cultural events, such as Pohela Boishakh
  • showcase the achievement of Bangladesh civil society
  • provide a networking platform for Bangladeshi students of the university
  • organize debate, discussion, or talk about social issues affecting Bangladesh, i.e. corruption, inequality, mental health
  • help non-Bangladeshi university community to understand Bangladesh better
  • give homesick Bangladeshi students physiological support etc.
