Guild of Bangladeshi Restaurateurs (Guild of Bangladeshi Restaurateurs of Scotland) is an organization of Bangladeshi restaurant owners and caterers in Surry, UK. Founded in 1994, the Guild of Bangladeshi Restaurateurs is a membership-based organization that works to protect the interests of Bangladeshi restaurant businesses in the UK, including Scotland, Wales, and England. The primary role of the guild is to lobby the British government, both nationally and at a local level, representing the views of the curry industry to decision-makers and legislators.
Aims and objectives:
- to safeguard the interests of restaurateurs and get key messages across to the Government
- to promote and improve the standard of spice restaurants
- to address the issues of the shortage of chefs in the industry
- to unite the Bangladeshi Restaurateurs under one umbrella to speak with one voice
- to campaign for favorable immigration rules and regulations for the industry chefs and workers
The Guild of Bangladeshi Restaurateurs has several branches (South East, Central Midlands, Thames Valley, Buckinghamshire, Wales, Hertfordshire, Central London, Scotland, West Midlands, and Staffordshire). Branch activities include formal meetings, seminars, study days, catering supplier demonstrations, exhibitions, and social events, where members can keep up-to-date with current issues, including regular updates on forthcoming legislation, and meet their peers. The annual membership fee is £85.00.
The association publishes Spice Business Magazine to spread awareness among members and patrons. However, the last issue was printed in 2013.
