Strong Women’s Community Empowerment (SWCE) is a Bangladeshi women’s social group/organization in Bronx, NY. Founded in 2016, the organization aims to work for the development, empowerment and women’s rights of Bangladeshi women. Strong Women’s Community Empowerment aims to work on environmental issues, like cleaning garbage (tissue paper, wrapper, cigarette butt etc.) from streets, parks, side walks, and clearing obstacles that are harmful to any decent living environment. SWCE members occasionally work together to clean up neighborhood where Bangladesh community lives (Sterling Avenue). Aside from the activities the group also tries to bring attention to global warming and adverse effects of greenhouse gases.

Strong Women’s Community Empowerment particularly interested in creating awareness among Bangladeshi and all immigrant communities how to live clean, healthy and environmentally sustainable way. The group emphases on providing information and ways to recycle, car polling, use of public transportation, etc. Involving next generation of youth, kids, students into the process is one of the aims of the SWCE.

Local elected officials, community activists of Bangladeshi origin provide moral and social support for Strong Women’s Community Empowerment. Financial support from for SWCE mostly come from the leadership, members and local Bangladeshi business community.
