Deshe Bideshe, founded on February 21, 1991, initially used a Bangla typewriter but later transitioned to a Bangla font designed for computers by Dr. Zafar Iqbal, revolutionizing its publication process. Initially priced at $1.00, it became a weekly newspaper on June 6, 1996. In 1997, it expanded to Toronto and New York, increasing its page count to 64 with 4 to 8 pages in color. Then it launched its online publication in 1998. In 2000, it introduced a four-page English insert called ‘Just for Kids,’ later renamed ‘New Generation,’ which gained popularity and was featured in mainstream newsstands. On December 1, 2008, Deshe Bideshe became a daily online publication.
For a time, digital content was delivered via mobile apps for Apple, Android, and Windows.
