New American Voters Association

The New American Voters Association (NAVA), an initiative of the Bangladeshi community, was founded as a Political Action Committee in 2007 to enhance immigrant community engagement with local officials, register eligible voters, and advocate for immigrant issues in New York City. NAVA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

NAVAs motto is ‘make a difference one vote at a time.

Mission

• Increase interaction between immigrant communities and local elected officials.
• Register eligible voters, regardless of party affiliation.
• Advocate for issues that affect immigrant communities in NYC.

Activities

• Civic Engagement: Engage in Voter education, registration drives, polling site assistance, and political forums.
• Advocacy: Lead advocate for civil rights and civic engagement on local, state, and national levels.
• Community Events: Sponsor cultural programs, annual dinners, and awards ceremonies.
• Political Involvement: Align with and campaign for Democratic Party candidates.
• Awareness: Promote US Census awareness and other voter programs.
• International: Raise awareness of safety and protecting religious minority groups in Bangladesh.

Membership

The New American Voters Association (NAVA) offers various membership levels for different price ranges. ActBlue Civics, Inc. collects the membership dues. In addition to membership, anyone can donate to the organization’s causes.

• General Member: $20 (Two-year membership fee)
• Couple Member: $30 (two-year membership fee with spouse)
• Supporter: $50
• Donor: $100
