Ascend Behavior Center

Ascend Behavior Center, or Ascend ABA, is a Bangladeshi social business venture that provides autism-related services in New York City. Established in 2019, the center aims to help autistic children and their families by reducing challenging behavior, enhancing socialization and communication skills, enhancing play and leisure skills, and developing independent living skills. Ascend Behavior Center’s Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy is available in English, Bangla, Spanish, Tagalog, Hindi, and Arabic.

The center accepts Medicaid and all major commercial insurances. A free consultation is also available.

Programs:

• In-home and School-based ABA Therapy: Provides In-home one-on-one services where children aged 3-21 are most comfortable, supporting consistent learning and development.
• Parent and Caregiver Training: Workshops and consultations to teach evidence-based strategies for supporting individuals with autism and neurodevelopmental disabilities at home.
• Skills Assessment and Training: Comprehensive assessments to identify strengths, deficits, and growth areas are used to develop personalized intervention plans.
• Challenging Behavior Reduction: Functional behavior assessments and intervention plans to address challenging behaviors using evidence-based techniques.
• Functional Communication: Training in alternative communication methods and language skills to improve communication for individuals with limited verbal abilities.
• Advocacy: Support for the rights, inclusion, and appropriate support of individuals with autism and neurodevelopmental disabilities.

Process

1. Consultation: Free 30-minute consultation with Ascend Behavior Center to gather basic information about child(ren) and family concerns.
2. Check Insurance Coverage: Check copies of the child’s insurance, doctor referral, and latest psycho-educational evaluation.
3. Intake: Parents sign intake forms, the client service agreement, an IEP copy, progress reports from other therapists, if available, and their preferred schedule.
4. Skills Assessment: Board-Certified Behavior Analyst meets the child at the house to observe, interview, and administer tests to evaluate the child’s needs.
5. Parent Training: Since parent collaboration is essential for the success of ABA services, Ascend Behavior Center offers practical training to ensure that parents can implement the interventions successfully.
6. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)Training: Assign a trained and Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) to implement the treatment plan under the supervision of the BCBA.
