Greater Vancouver Bangladesh Cultural Association (GVBCA) is a non-profit cultural organization dedicated to the Bangladeshi community living in Vancouver, British Columbia. Established in 2002 through the merger of two organizations, Canada Bangladesh Cultural Association of BC, founded in 1988-89, and Bangladesh Cultural Association of BC, established in 1992-93, GVBCA’s primary objective is to foster and promote Bangladeshi national heritage, culture, and the Bangla language within the vibrant multicultural society of Canada.
Objectives of the Greater Vancouver Bangladesh Cultural Association (GVBCA):
- To support and enhance the social and overall well-being of the Bangladeshi community in Greater Vancouver, British Columbia.
- To foster friendship and collaboration between Bangladeshis and other ethnic communities in Canada.
- To build positive relationships and goodwill with other cultural groups, societies, or associations, and to establish partnerships with like-minded organizations.
- To celebrate and share Bangladeshi culture, literature, music, arts, and educational heritage while promoting their integration into Canada’s multicultural society.
- To secure funding through donations and other means to support these initiatives.
- To acquire, manage, and utilize properties, both real estate and financial assets, through purchase, lease, donation, or other lawful means, ensuring they serve the best interests of GVBCA and its mission.
Greater Vancouver Bangladesh Cultural Association (GVBCA) aims to
- Host annual picnics, musical events, and cultural festivals to celebrate Bangladesh’s national celebrations.
- Support and sponsor Bangla language radio programs to foster linguistic and cultural connections.
- Promote and patronize local Bangladeshi artists by showcasing their talents and providing opportunities.
- Strengthen unity and collaboration with other cultural and community organizations.
- Cultivate a community built on mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation for a harmonious society.
