ZamZam Charitable Trust is a Bangladeshi not-for-profit charitable organization in UK (Registered Charity No. 1132716). All the projects of ZamZam based in Sylhet region of Bangladesh. The organization was founded in 2003 by a group of Bangladeshi volunteers with one common objective – to help improve the lives of the less fortunate in Bangladesh. ZamZam Charitable Trust promotes awareness, raises funds and mobilizes effort to meet the essential needs of the poor and the disable people in Bangladesh. Most of the funds collected by the organization is sent to Bangladesh. There its sister organization, ZamZam Bangladesh (registered in Bangladesh, reg no: 2090 ), implements all the projects. All funding and activities of ZamZam Charitable Trust is non-political, non-governmental and operates in accordance with Shari’ah principles. The organization keeps funds donated by way of Zakat separate from general donations. A religious committee ensures that Zakat funds are utilized only in accordance with the rules of Zakat. Donation to the organization are tax-deductible.
ZamZam Charitable Trust provides assistance to principally per-schooling phase. Most of its activities are done inside the slum area where children can not attend the school. ZamZam schools are located inside or near the slum area so that students can attend the school and parents are happy. Educational and other initiates provide to the poor are free and no micro-loan programs are not carried out by the organization.
Operation and projects of ZamZam Charitable Trust:
- Provides survival allowance for underprivileged households (old, widows and orphans)
- Provides basic healthcare services in rural communities
- Provides emergency aid during natural disasters
- Runs educational programs for underprivileged children and adults
- Trains unemployed youths for work
- Helps women learn how to do tailoring
- Assists people with essential home building and repairs
- Provides access to safe drinking water
- Provides financial assistance with marriage and funeral services
- Arranges Iftar in local Mosques during the month of Ramadan
- Collects Zakat from Bangladeshis living abroad
- Collects general donations, etc.
