Business Description

The Australia Bangladesh Council of Victoria (ABCV), founded in 1998, was established by the Bangladeshi community residing in Melbourne. The council’s primary objectives were to provide a platform for practicing Islam, imparting Islamic education to the next generation of Bangladeshi-Australian individuals, and fostering a strong sense of unity among all Muslim communities. The ABCV, also known as the Australia Bangladesh Islamic Council (ABIC), offers various services, including facilitating prayers, providing regular madhrasha education for children, assisting with mortuary and funeral arrangements for Muslim brothers and sisters, and is governed by a Board of Mutawallis (BOM).

ABCV works to establish social and cultural networks among Bangladeshis residing in Melbourne, Victoria. The Bangladesh-born community in Victoria is the second largest in Australia, after New South Wales. Primarily located in the local government areas of Wyndham, Maribyrnong, and Monash, a significant portion of Bangladesh-born migrants are employed as professionals in the education, healthcare, and community services sectors. ABCV actively promotes Bangladeshi culture, traditions, and language, providing support to newly arrived migrants.
