Bangla School, now known as BCCDI-Bangla School, was founded in 1991 by a group of young people with the slogan ‘Esho Amra Bangla Shikhi.’ The school started with seven students and two dedicated teachers in a basement. In 1995, the school became part of the Bangladesh Center for Cultural Exchange Inc. In January 1996, the organization was registered as a non-profit corporation. In November 1997, the organization was granted tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. So, any donation to the organization is tax-deductible. In 2000, the organization was renamed Bangladesh Center for Community Development Inc. (BCCDI). BCCDI is listed in Arlington County, Virginia’s multicultural department.
Mission
The school’s mission is to maximize each child’s potential while connected to their cultural roots. The school embraces diversity, fostering a culture where differences are valued and interactions are free of bias.
BCCDI-Bangla School is managed by the Bangladesh Center for Community Development (BCCDI), located in Arlington, Northern Virginia. Bangla School offers classes to the Bangla and non-Bangali communities of the Greater Washington Metropolitan area, including Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
BCCDI-Bangla School is also known as Metro Washington Bangla School.
