Italbangla Association or Italbangla Coordination Association & Development (Associazione Coordinamento Italbangla & Sviluppo) is an association of the Bangladeshi community living in Rome, Italy. It was established in 2009 and aims to improve the relationship between Italian and Bangladeshi people living in Italy.
Nature & purposes:
The association supports the Bangladeshi community in Italy and offers information on safeguarding, integration, equality, cultural understanding, and preserving cultural identity.
Activities
The “Italbangla Association” aims to foster cultural exchange, mutual assistance, and social integration for immigrants and refugees from Bangladesh. The association’s activities may include:
Cultural & Recreational Promotion:
- Organize recreational, cultural, and educational events. Promote conferences, seminars, study meetings, debates, awards, and competitions – stage singing, folkloric, and artistic events. Provide information on scholarships, fairs, and handicraft exhibitions from Bangladesh. Collect books, magazines, periodicals, and information bulletins for Bangladeshi compatriots.
Mutual Assistance & Solidarity:
- Promote mutual assistance, knowledge, and solidarity among immigrants and refugees. Collaborate with Italian and international institutions, social, political, and trade union forces with a solidarity and anti-racist orientation. Manage assistance services that benefit the Association’s growth.
Education & Awareness:
- Develop and implement education, information, and awareness programs in Italy about issues impacting the Bangladeshi community. Promote cultural initiatives to preserve Bangladeshi heritage.
Legal & Integration Support:
- Assist Bangladeshi immigrants and refugees in disputes with public and private entities. Provide legal assistance, including court appearances when needed. Collaborate on Italian language learning, basic education, school support, intensive care, and employment and social integration guidance and training.
Professional Development & Exchange:
- Carry out professional training programs for Bangladeshi and Asian immigrant citizens.
- Encourage exchanging people, experience, and cultures through twinning and study trips.
Membership
- Founding Members: Founding members contribute to the association’s creation and accept the title in writing, appearing in the association’s articles of association. They remain members until they submit a written resignation.
- Honorary Members: Honorary members have made significant contributions to protecting immigrant and refugee rights, as proposed by the president and approved by the central steering committee.
- Ordinary Members: Ordinary members are committed to participating in all association initiatives and favoring them organically and developmentally, accepting the association’s principles.
Funding:
The Italbangla Association’s primary funding sources are voluntary contributions from its members and proceeds from various initiatives and activities. Additionally, bequests and donations from individuals and legal entities contribute to the organization’s financial support.
