The film focuses largely on the genocide and investigates why and how it was executed. An estimated 3 million people were killed\, 10 million people were displaced to India and 400\,000 women and girls were raped by the Pakistani soldiers in months following in effort to quell the struggle for independence of East Pakistan as Bangladesh.
