MAAWS is a Bangladeshi not-for-profit organization based in New York, USA and Bangladesh. In USA, MAAWS works with Bangladeshi immigrant community in New York and Tri State Area.
The US services include:
- Youth Development and Community Outreach
- Services for Immigrants – Dealing with school, health programs, housing, etc. in new Environment
- Education Seminars: HIV/AIDS, Diabetes, Cancer, Heart Disease, mental health
- Referrals for Services
- Support for traumatic situation and Hospital Visits
In Bangladesh, MAAWS has projects in the village of Earpur in Noakhali, Bangladesh. It has programs in health, water and women’s empowerment including the MAAWS Health Complex an outpatient clinic started in 2012, the Pure Drinking and Sanitation Project and the Sewing Training Program.
MAAWS is named after a merchant farmer who lived in Bangladesh and devoted his life to helping others through education, social development and sharing of community resources. MAAWS’ mission is to empower communities to maintain healthy lifestyles through education, training and action programs.
