Bangladesh Center at Leeds

Bangladesh Center at Leeds, UK is a Bangladeshi community center for Bangladeshi community to provide information, education, training and general welfare service. The center was founded in 1989 with the co-operation of Leeds City Council and Bangladeshi community.  The center runs independently and control all of its activities by Bangladeshi community since 2009. Bangladesh Center at Leeds hold annual events, including the RadhaRaman Folk Festival, celebrating the work of RadhaRaman Dutta, a prolific Bangladeshi composer whose is known as the ‘Father of Dhamail Songs’. Other programs include Bangla New Year, religious festivals, etc. The principal aims of the center is to increasing education among the community as well as promoting social cohesion through regular events and discussions.

The Bangladesh Center is managed by an elected committee. The committee represents the diverse background of the community, made up of teachers, doctors and local businesses of Bangladeshi origin.
