Surma Elders’ Club

Surma Elders’ Club or Surma Older People’s Club is a Bangladeshi senior citizen’s association in Tower Hamlet, London, UK. The organization is based in and facilitated by Toynbee Hall’s one of the many Older Peoples’ Service Initiatives.

Surma Elders’ Club has been operating since 1983 and one of longest running Bangladeshi pensioners’ club in the UK. The Club offers drop-in service to the local elderly Bangladeshi community, it enables elders to access services they need under one roof. Services include translation of documents, advice on load/debt, benefits, general information and practical support.
The aim of the Surma Elders’ Club is to reduce social isolation among the community by providing an environment in which individual members can reminisce with other members and participate in leisure and cultural activities.
