Bangladesh Hindu, Buddhist & Christian Unity Council, USA (BHBCUC, USA) is dedicated to protecting the human rights of the religious and ethnic minorities of Bangladesh. The organization enlists the legislators, NGOs, members of the civil societies, and governments of democratic nations including Bangladesh to help the minorities of Bangladesh regain their rights as equal citizens of the country and live there with human dignity. It is a Human Rights Advocacy Group promoting secular, pluralistic democracy and equal rights for the religious and ethnic minorities in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Hindu, Buddhist & Christian Unity Council, USA (BHBCUC, USA) was established in New York City in 1990 by the expatriate Bangladeshi Hindus, Buddhists and Christians then residing primarily in the Tri-state area (New York-New Jersey-Connecticut). It is a not-for-profit, public benefit organization. It is independent of any government, political ideology or economic interest and are funded primarily by membership and public donations.
Membership: General membership may be given to a Hindu, Buddhist, Christian or indigenous person of Bangladeshi origin, regardless of his or her current residency status in USA, if such person is sane, at least 18 years of age and has never acted against the interest of the minorities of Bangladesh and been convicted by a U. S. court of law. A new applicant seeking membership under this category shall be considered a member of the Unity Council only after she/he has filled out an application, paid his or her annual dues ($20/per year), signed the attached Membership Agreement Form and the application has been approved.
BHBCUC, USA has Advisory Council, Board of Directors and Executive Committee to run the organization.
