Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani Foundation (MAHKBF) or Bhashani Foundation is a New York based Bangladeshi organization to commemorate and promote the ideas of Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani – a Bangladeshi political leader. The organization was established in 2010.
The objectives of Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani Foundation are:
- Continuing research on the works of the great leader and dreamer of independence of Bangladesh, pioneer of the peasant movement of South Asia, voice of the down trodden of the world, Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani.
- Creating awareness among the people about his life, particularly among the new generation and oppressed people of the world in general.
- Imbuing the people to follow his ideals and footprints and to impart education about his life and struggle and to give moral support against all forms of torture and suppression of human rights.
- Informing the people about the anti-colonial struggle of Moulana Bhashani and to realize the rights of the poor people of Bangladesh and its adjacent regions including the peasants and laborers of the world.
- Extending support to the freedom and democracy loving small nations in their struggle for independence, sovereignty and economic emancipation throughout the world.
- Introducing international peace award after the name of Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani on different issues including social works, political and environmental activities, imparting education and empowerment of the poor.
Membership
The foundation offers individual, student and organizational membership.
- Life membership can be offered to any person who pays 25 years dues of membership at one time as a donation, and
- Honorary membership to any person of outstanding caliber, distinguished achievement or extraordinary quality or who has demonstrated utmost loyalty to the Foundation. Honorary members do not have any voting rights.
